CARE MINISTRY

St. Peter’s Care Ministry and Support Group opportunities create a strong network of loving care for anyone going through a difficult time. Volunteers are welcome to help in any of these ministries.

Prayer

If you would like to request prayer for yourself or someone you know, please contact Pastor Whitney Peper at wpeper@stpkaty.orgor fill out a Prayer Request card during worship.

Care Team

The Care Team addresses people's hurts and joys through prayer and service. Care Team meets weekly on Monday evenings at 6 p.m. in room E106 to pray over those on the care list and sends cards, makes phone calls, and visits those in need of support.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers provide one-on- one Christian care to those going through difficult times. They provide listening care to anyone who is struggling with issues such as job loss, illness, relationship difficulties, a spiritual crisis, or loss of a loved one. Prayer Quilt Ministry

The Prayer Quilt Ministry meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. in room E221/E222 and creates quilts to give to those in need of extra care. After the quilts are crafted, the group prays over them and for the recipient. The Prayer Quilt Ministry meets monthly and welcomes anyone regardless of their sewing skills.

Phone Bank Ministry

Since 2014, this group has joined the front-line counter-trafficking effort with Rescue Houston to host monthly outreach efforts through a phone bank ministry. These meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the Kingsland campus. Phone calls are made to each person that was forced, either by violence or self esteem, to a life of trafficking and a message of hope and love is given, offering a way out if they are open and ready to leave their situation. Smocks for Life

This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in Asbury West and produces smocks for women who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The colorful, cheerful smocks are designed for comfort and modesty and are provided to patients free of charge. Smocks for Life hosts monthly cutting session to cut out fabric. Volunteers are needed to sew the fabric into smocks.

Grace in Grief

This group of volunteers provides receptions for the families following funerals and memorial services. Contact Rev. Whitney Peper at wpeper@stpkaty.org to join this team.

The Gathering

The Gathering is a monthly ministry to homebound seniors, offering respite to the clients’ caregivers. Volunteers help with activities such as singing, exercise, games and crafts. They also provide and help with lunch. Performing groups periodically provide entertainment for The Gathering. For more information contact us here.

St. Peter’s Support Groups Alzheimer’s Family Support

Provides an opportunity for family members of Alzheimer’s patients to meet for support and education. Usually meets on the third Monday of each month.

Grief Support Group

If you have experienced the loss of a loved one and are looking for support and tools to help navigate the journey, St. Peter's offers a GriefShare class from time to time. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Job Search Assistance

Job Search Assistance meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in S202 for those interested in a program to help with finding employment or job change. The group will meet through mid November and start again in January, running through mid-May. We will discuss search tactics, online submittals, networking, resumes, and interviewing for both general and specific job searches. There is no charge for this program and you can join at any time. This support group is for family and friends of LGBTQ persons. It meets the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in E225 during the school year.
